Narrower than standard implants — under 3mm — for jaws too thin to take a normal implant, and for locking a loose denture in place.

A mini implant is a narrow titanium post — under 3mm, against 3.5 to 5mm for a standard implant. That slimness is the point: it fits where a standard implant cannot.
Mini implants are likely right for you if:
They are not for every case. Molars take too much bite force, and full fixed arches need standard implants. We will not place mini implants where a standard implant is the better long-term answer.
If bone loss is your concern across a whole arch, All-on-4 may suit instead. Your CT scan tells us honestly which fits. It costs nothing.
Stage 1
Dr Mirza scans your jaw in 3D at our Melton Road clinic to measure bone width, height and density at each site. The scan confirms whether mini implants suit you and how many you need. You leave with a written plan and an exact price. You pay nothing.
Stage 2
We place the mini implants under local anaesthetic. The technique is minimally invasive — usually no incision, no stitches — so most cases are one appointment and you go home the same day.
Stage 3
For a single gap, we fit a crown. For a loose denture, we clip it onto the implants — often the same day. Your denture now holds firm instead of floating on your gum.
From £1,500 per implant. Published here, before you call.
Most patients need mini implants to secure a denture rather than one on its own. Your CT scan sets the number and the final price.

Yes, but an upper denture needs more mini implants than a lower one. The upper jaw is less dense, so it typically takes six mini implants against four for the lower. Your CT scan confirms the number.
For denture stabilisation and narrow single-tooth gaps, they work well. But they have less surface area, so they are not right for full fixed arches or high-load molars. We only recommend mini implants where they genuinely fit your bone.
Often, yes. We can usually retrofit your current denture to clip onto the mini implants, which avoids the cost of a new one. We assess it at your CT consultation.
Often, this is exactly why mini implants are chosen. A narrow ridge that rules out a standard implant can still take a mini one. Only a CT scan confirms it — not a 2D X-ray.
Yes. Most mini cases need no incision and no stitches, so placement is quicker and recovery is usually one to three days of mild discomfort — less than standard implant surgery.
